They do look happy. I believe this is dark floral lace over a lighter colored satin or taffeta underskirt or slip. The main portion of the bodice and the skirt yoke appear to be made of a contrasting solid fabric (though difficult to tell from the picture) and the upper portion from the same lace. The skirt yoke is a little unusual.

Jen and Dee–why hadn’t I thought of lace?! But wouldn’t the dress be more elegant if the hem had gone underneath the lining?
